How can rooting in Android phone be identified?

I have an Android LG Optimus 2 mobile phone which I borrowed from my friend. I would like to find out if the phone is rooted. How can rooting be identified on a phone?

Re: How can rooting in Android phone be identified?

On Android it is quite easy to identify rooting. You can get the terminal emulator downloaded from the market and get it installed on the phone. Then get it opened by double clicking on it. Type the letters "su" without the quotes and hit the ‘enter’ button. You can then see a popup asking for the ‘superuser’ permissions. After this is done you will notice that you are at a # prompt or a $ prompt. If you are at the # prompt, you are root. If it is the $ prompt that is cropping up, the phone is not rooted. You could also check in the app drawer and see if there is an app called superuser installed. If there is you have a rooted phone. The Root Checker apps available on the Play Store also work well.
