While downloading an app into my HTC Thunderbolt, I found some APK app files along with it. What is the procedure for installing those files into my phone?

    hi,
The .apk files are the android package files means that they are the android software.
To install a apk file from memory card you need a file manager like ASTRO , ES file manager, Androzip etc. You can download it via Play Store.
Open File manager and locate .apk file on your memory card . Tap on it and you will see a option to install it. Click on it and the process of installing the application will begin.

    Hello Guest,
Its quite easy, actually. Just tap on the .APK file and the phone's installer starts automatically. If the APK file is of the same app that has been installed, it will prompt you to overwrite, so you don't need to worry about it. Thank You.

    Hi,
In order to install the .apk Application files all you have to do is connect the phone to the PC using a Data cable and then copy the .apk application files to the phone using the data cable. If those are downloaded using a computer but if the files are downloaded directly in your phone then open the application drawer and then select the "File Manager" application using that application navigate to downloads file there you will be able to find those files you have to tap on them and the phone will prompt to install them using this you can install the required application directly from the phone. Also please note that these applications are not secure as there might be some viruses that which will cause the phone to get damaged it is advisable to download the applications from "Play Store".
    Hope this Helps.
