My phone is talking to me?

Yesterday, my phone started delivering status messages in a very loud voice.

Every half hour or so it a synthesized female voice would say something like "data connection turned off" or "data connection connected".

This message even happened at frequent intervals even when I was in airplane mode with all data switched off!

This was very annoying in the day, but after being woken up serveral times in the night by the message, I turned the phone off.

Could anyone advise why the phone has started talking to me (!) and how to turn it off in future. For reference, since I restarted the phone today, it has been silent.....

    Thanks!

    hello dear,

I think you have to go to settings/general, scroll down with 3 fingers to accessability. Then turn off the voice.

Re: My phone is talking to me?

Turn off the "Talk-back Option" as fellow members mentioned, Thats the only reason your mobile is talking back to you.
Also check your installed apps, because sometimes the apps you installed might perform a similar function For Eg: "Screen Reader", and try to uninstall the Apps.

    All the Best.

It happens due to network problem. Try to move to a good network area. Call again and try this until you get the call right.

You have probable turned on the Talk-Back Application from Google.

The app is designed for users with vision problems.

To turn off the feature, do the following--->

    1. Go to Settings.

    2. Select Accessibility.

    3. UN-check Talk Back option.

If the phone is still speaking to you, then do the following--->

    1. Back up all the important data present in the phone memory like contacts and SMS.

    2. Go to Settings.

    3. Select Privacy.

    4. Hit Factory Data reset.

    5. Hit Rest phone.

All the settings will be restored to their default values.

Angry Re: My phone is talking to me?

OK, this morning my phone started suddenly talking to me, but only to tell me who is calling and when I get voice mail. I checked the accessibility settings, and Talkback is not on. I have tried the Reset phone suggestion too, and again still no joy. I have not installed any new apps, and nothing has changed as far as I can see... What else could it be? I even turned on Talkback, and then it started (in the same male voice) telling me everything I was doing. Please help it is driving me absolutely bloody bonkers!

Re: My phone is talking to me?

    Dear Friend...

You need to do slight changes in your device. Just follow these steps:-

    1. First of all, go to your home screen option.
    2. Now tap on Settings Icon.
    3. Here you get accessibility option, tap again.
    4. In this, you get a Talkback option which you need to turn it off.
    5. Now make a call to the caller and check the sound, there is no repeatation.

If it is something like it, then it means there is some network issue as well.
    Thank You...
