Multimedia message slowing down processing speed of the Lenovo P780 Smartphone

I tried sending 8 pictures in mms this afternoon and it’s been more than a few hours and they still haven’t reached the recipient. Is there a way that I can stop the message from sending because it is now slowing down my phone? Thing is though I deleted all my messages this afternoon as well because I wanted to clear space in case that was slowing it down. Please give me the solution.
