It is possible to cut and paste text on your Xperia android phone from Sony. The method is different in landscape and portrait view. Selecting text is the same in both modes. You need to double tap on the typing field and the word next to it would get highlighted. Now you can drag to left or right to get the required text highlighted. In landscape orientation, you will find have to touch and hold the text till an edit option appears. The edit option will have the options like cut, copy and paste. In portrait mode also you need to keep pressing the selected text till an application bar appears on the top. There you will find the options for cut, copy and paste.

yes you can surely cut/copy and paste text in your Android device..
to do so.. when you are in front of the text you want to cut/copy..
just long press right next to the text.. it will be selected and you will be displayed with the options to cut/copy..
then again at the destination.. long press in empty space to get similarly the paste option..

Similarly you can do this to the Browser window also..
long press on a word.. and then slide the pointers pointing the start and end of the selected text..
