Is it possible to perform a hard reset via hardware on an unresponsive Android device?

My Google Nexus 7 runs on Android Jellybean, and seems to be completely unresponsive. A hard rest or rebooting only helps my tablet. Is it possible for my device to have a hard reset via hardware?

Hard reset viahardware is the only option left for you if the device is completelyunresponsive. Firstly, press the power button and both volumekeys for several seconds. Finally, the computer screen blinks off. Continue holding the buttons until the Start selection andthe logo for Android recovery are seen at the top portion of the screen. The‘menu’ selections can be seen by scrolling volume keys from top to bottom. If you wantfactory reset and wipe out all the data from the device, select Recovery Mode. Thiswill reboot your device. But note that this reboot will be at a much slower ratethan normal. And if you don’t want to factory reset, you can try to ‘Power down’ or to ‘Restart boot loader’fromthe selections. You can select the option using the power key. When the Androidwith a red triangle appears, just hold down the power button. Then click on volumeup key till the option, factory reset orwipe data is seen. For selecting this, click on thepower button. It should be kept in mind that all the data stored in your devicewill be erased. Using the volume keys, you can select the option ‘Yes – erase alluser data’. Then thepower button should be pressed again to select this option.
