    Is it true that an Android-powered satellite is in the making?

    I am a huge fan of android. I heard about an android powered satellite in the making. Can you share some information on this?

    Yes. There have been reports of NASA planning to develop miniature satellites that are powered by android operating system. There are reports of research and development division of NASA developing 10cm square satellites that makes use of Nexus phones that is capable of working as computing brains which can power the satellites. The android models that are currently in the making include PhoneSat 2.0 and PhoneSat 1.0. PhoneSat 1.0 will be running on Nexus One where as PhoneSat 2.0 is capable of running on Nexus S android device. The android powered satellites are designed to bring changes in the orientation of the satellite.

    yes it's true dude... NASA decided to launch miniature satellites(phonesat) basing on the smartphone technology like android .... And the budget for this project is about $3500...
    The first Phonesat 1.0 was based on Htc OneX that runs android operating system...... The main goal of this initial project is to know whether it can survive in the space or not....

    yes its true, NASA is getting involved into Android and has designed a prototype Smartphone satellite PhoneSat 1.0..
    it is built around Nexus One smartphone by HTC corp., and supports Android OS..
    NASA's PhoneSat 2.0 will be based on Samsung's Nexus S, also running on Android..
    PhoneSat 2.0 will provide faster core processor and avionics..

    It is a 10cm square satellite which uses Nexus phone.
    It can be used as computing brains.
    PhoneSat 2.0 which is currently on development stage runs on Nexus S.
    These can change the orientations of satellite.
    PhoneSat 1.0 will run on Nexus One.

    Yes its true. the names are PhoneSat 1.0 and PhoneSat 2.0. The 1.0 model runs on Nexus One and the 2.0 model runs on Nexus S.

    Well what you have heard is right. A miniature satellite is being built by NASA which is operated by android device i.e nexus. This satellite is named phonesat 1.0 which is operated by nexus developed by htc. If this successful it would launch many other satellites.

    The satellite is of 10cm square.
    It uses Nexus phone & can be used as computing brains.

    PhoneSat 2.0 runs on Nexus S which in on its progress stage.
    PhoneSat 1.0 runs on Nexus One.

    Orientations of satellite can also be changed.
