    Hi,
In order to make your phone to a 3G network navigate to "Settings" from the application drawer and then select the option as "Wireless&Networks" in that you will find an option as "Mobile Networks" select that and then open network preferences select the network mode to WCDMA and then select the option as "Enable Mobile data" once it is enabled you will get an icon on the status bar if that doesn't occur then reboot the phone, even after the reboot nothing happens then please see to that the 3G network is supported in that area.
    Hope this Helps.

Rooting is always always difficult to perform if you does not know what it exactly does. Since you are saying that the problem arises only after the Rooting, the actual core of the problem lies with the Rooting Process. There are many things which may go wrong when you root your Device and it is very hard to predict. I would ask you to get your mobile device serviced. Thats the only best option available.

first reset your phone.before reseting backup your data first.after reset you have to retry connecting 3g network.
if you have facing same problem, then there is only one way that yiu have to flash your phone with latest firmware.
and root your phone without unlocking bootloader.my advice is to avoid rooting phone sometimes rooting causes
    problem. so make your choice.

In the case of 3G connection you need setting of your service provider. If your phone
have setting of many service provider then you need to select it as correct that you
are using now. But if you have not setting then call your costumer care and say to
send the setting. After sending the setting save that. After saving that setting your
    internet will be connected.

But as you say you are also not able to connect WiFi connection and not found WiFi
icon then you need to fix it. Just go to setting and there find out connection. In that
yo will see WiFi. So there and make that ON. After doing this you will see a icon of
WiFi on your home page. So just there and set it to connect through WiFi.
