Unexpected Factory Reset, and now I can't change my sound settings?

Last night, as I was getting ready to go to bed, I went to set my alarm and my phone shut down. When it started up, there was some form of message--I wasn't quick enough to catch what it was.

Then suddenly, it was back at factory defaults. My apps are gone, my accounts are all signed out. I am confused as to how this happened, and worried it could happen again. Any insight would be welcome.

Part two of the annoyance is that now when I try go into the System menu and change my sounds--notification or ringtones--I get the message "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I've turned the phone off and on again and tried again several times.

I've been able to change other settings--language and keyboard specifically--but not the sounds.

    I'm confuzzled. Help!

The error happened because of the bugs in OS. There is no reason for the mobile to automatically go for factory reset unless there is a problem with the OS itself.

Dont try to alter anything and better take the mobile device to the respective retailer to get the problem Fixed. I hope you have not done any rooting because rooting the device wrongly will cause numerous problems to the device, Thats why its always advised to do the rooting only if you know enough to handle the process successfully.

Get the help from authorized service center,Hope your problem will be solved soon.

    Good Luck.

As you say this problem occur after automatic Factory Reset.
Then it is possible that any corrupt application is present in your mobile.
If you download any apps or application then find that application.

    You should try following things:-

    1. If there is any untrusted application then remove that application.
    2. Do not download any application from untrusted places also.
    3. Try Factory reset again

If problem is not sort-out again then then you should go to the
    service center.

hi there,in my opinion the problem is with your firmware or rom.so in order to install a new one if your phone is in warranty just go to the service center or if not follow these steps.*Download your phone`s ROM from xda-developers.com.search your phone and you will find all info on it.after downloading put it in the root of your SD CARD.turn off your phone.hold volume up+power button simultaneously until a RED SCREEN pops up then leave the buttons.select the ROM by volume buttons where you have put it.then click on it by holding the power button.now the rom will install and after completion the phone will reboot.now its done.hope it will help...

    Hello friend,
There may be some software regarding issue to must have to rset your phone and then try again.

Remember, by performing a reset, all your data- settings, messages, apps, etc would be deleted.
    So backup up anything important.

    Follow these steps:
    - Go to 'Settings'.
    - Privacy.
    - 'Factory Data Reset'.
    - Fill in your id and password and confirm.
    - You can choose whether to delete SD card data or not.

After the process is complete, your device would return to its out-of-the-box state or to its factory settings.

    Regards!

Well i think the problem occured due to bugs in os or presence of virus, you need to scan it by using standard anti virus to clean any virus, then try to see whether it works or not,if still you are facing problem then you need to take backup of all data and again do reset
    for reseting follow these steps
    1.take backup of all data
    2,menu
    3.settings
    4.privacy
    5.factory data reset
now the problem is solved,if still facing an issue then you need to go to service center for resolving the problem

    hello...

it may be due to virus attack on tour device..
you should download a good antivirus like AVG,Quick Heal...
and then install it and scan your whole device...
if also the same problem persist then
you should factory reset your device..
but before doing that first back up your data first..
    follow the steps...
    go to main menu..
    then settings option.
    then privacy option.
    then select factory reset..option..
    and then confirm it..
your problem will be definitely solved..

    thanks..
