Upgrading Samsung Galaxy S without losing applications

I am on the official FROYO 2.2.1 and it is working great. If I upgrade it in the coming weeks to Gingerbread, will I lose all installed applications? I had backed most of them to phone SD card, but there are many still in the phone memory, and I am afraid that I cannot install them back.

I give some tips just try this..
    1)Go to setting
    2)Select about phone
    3)Then click check for update
4)If you find any update means update it..
it's official update release in your phone so you will not loss any apps..
