Hi,
Rooting your phone means gaining privileges such as access to the internal files of the phone where you will be able to edit those files. So Rooting your phone does void your phone's warranty other than that there are no disadvantages with rooting. Also rooting the phone improves the capabilities of the phone to a greater which means you can install all kind of software or patches that will help you improve the performance of the phone and also increase the battery life. The phone can be made to work at its original performance so rooting is of the phone is advisable only if there is a unroot method and most of the phones in market has it. It is totally up to you to whether root your phone or not if you don't like the stock Rom then root the phone and enjoy your privileges.
Hope this Helps.
