The Samsung galaxy Y does not nave any ICS update. The hardware is not sufficient to handle ICS, its bigger sibling, the Galaxy Ace with better hardware cannot support ICS then how can you expect Galaxy Y to get any ICS upgrade !!!

Either way, if you want to upgrade your mobile's firmware, Go to settings---> About phone---> Software update---> update. If there is any update available, the phone will download it and install it.

Apparently there has been no word from Samsung about the official update as the phone has very low specs but if there are any unofficial Rom created from some developers then you can try them out. The Custom Roms can be found in forums like Xda-developers.
Here is the procedure to be followed.
    1.Root your phone
2.Install a Custom Recovery using Odin
3.Then install the Rom from the Recovery.

    Hope this Helps.

    Dear,

No, Official ICS Updates are not available for your Galaxy Y.
Samsung has not released ICS for your device.SO you can not Update your device.
You will find number of Custom ICS ROMS for your Galaxy Y but they are not official.
Don't go for them, if it is not done in a right way, you will have to face bugs.

    Pleasure to help you...!!

    Hello friend,

I will help you to solve your problem, don't worry just follow as i say.

1.There is no official update available for your device.

2.That means the Samsung corporation hasn't launched any official version of Android 4.0 update for your device.

3.If you still want to get your device to be updated then you will need to first root your device.

4.And then you an install the Custom Rom of your needed version.

5.But doing so will result in some problems. And by rooting your device you will loose your device's warranty period.

Hope it is helpful to you..

    All the best.......................
