Which is the Basis of High speed in Android Mobiles- Processor or RAM?

I have T-Mobile G1 from HTC which is very slow in process. It hangs sometimes. It has only 89 MB internal memory.I think it don't have enough RAM but it would be interesting to know the reality of speed access in mobiles. So please provide details about it?

Both are very Important for any Android device to perform better, ROM largely contributes to "Dynamic Memory" so updating the ROM will improve the way your System is performing but in order to achieve overall performance boost you need to Update "Processor" as well as "ROM".

Just for performance boost updating "ROM" is more than enough.

    Good Luck.

    Processor:

The fluidity and smoothness of your User-Interface depends on your processor. If you have a slow processor, you may experience lag and your screen would be less responsive. Otherwise, the processor is mostly used by graphical games and heavy applications or benchmarks or while loading heavy web pages containing many plugins and flash content.

    Ram:

RAM literally means Random Access Memory. The temporary data of apps is stored in the RAM. The more the RAM, the more you can multitask. You can run many apps simultaneously without slowing down your device. You can also easily run complex apps that require more memory. You can also switch between apps much faster. You can even open many tabs in your your browser simultaneously.

Hence, in practical use, both processor and RAM are equally important in an Android device due to its hardware requirements.

processor and ram are the key elements of any electronic device for performing a task.
processor is the one which performs binary operations .this is measured in hertz's (hz's).
the work of processor is to execute commands given by the user.
and the purpose of ram is that it acts as an intermediate between the processor and the secondary memory.
we use ram because the processor cant access the memory from the secondary memory quickly .so that the ram first collect the data from the secondary memory and gives it to the processor to complete the process .
so if the larger the task lager the amount of ram required to store the memory.so if you have low ram i will a bit long complete the task.after the completion of the process it will erase the data from the ram.
the processor speed is measured in Hertz's.,ie., colock spped ..mean that one hertz mean that one bit per second,
so higher the clock speed faster the execution speed.

Re: Which is the Basis of High speed in Android Mobiles- Processor or RAM?

Basically speed depends upon many factors...!!
but specialy it depends on processor.....!!!
How many Ghz processor you have...!!!
if you have low capasity processor and your hard drive or SD card is almost with full of data it will take a time to open your drive..!!
Now here RAM-RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY is works sams as it works in PC or laptops...!!
It is also a part of good speed...!!
but as you exit the app memory occupied by app in RAM is cleared...!!
If you have a good capasity of RAM and you open a app which you frequenty use like message and gallery it helps you to re-open it fast and fast.......!!
In a other factors...Virus,spams, unneseccary heavy files etc also decrease your device speed...!!!

Dear friend The speed of your handset is entirely dependent on the processor speed and the ram if you want to speed up tour mobile you have to spend some penny in buying the official ram and your system speed will enhance 5 fokds the current valueI hope it helps Thanks and visit again happy to help

    According to me,

For android mobile to speed up both are necessary factor.RAM helps towards the “Dynamic memory”.But when you want your device to perform better you have to update both Processor and RAM.

    Hello,

RAM i.e. Random Access Memory is a temporary storage device. It gives us the freedom of using the stored data in hard disk or other primary memory in a very quick succession of time.

PROCESSOR is a chip which present there to take the users command . It processes the raw data provided by user and then sends it to RAM.

SO, having high capacity of RAM & good quality of processor, enhances your speed of device many times.

You can also upgrade your phone with the latest android version available in the market.

    I hope you are satisfied.......

Thanks for posting thread......please visit again..........

Htc g1 is comparatively very slow as it has only 192 mb of ram @ 528mhz process speed which is of snapdragon .from my opinion both ram and processor matters about speed .as this device ram is too low and out dated version of android ie donut so don't open many apps at same time use fast reboot app which is fastest task killer I should say

Re: Which is the Basis of High speed in Android Mobiles- Processor or RAM?

    Dear Friend....

There is no comparison between the RAM and the Processor of Android mobile because both the hardware are the backbone of each other and if any of the hardware is not up-to the mark according to the demand of the Android mobile, the device will definitely lacks due to this.

No device can be run without a RAM and a processor.
The task of the RAM to increase the internal speed of the mobile and on the other hand, the function processor is to control the overall functioning of mobile which also help to do multi-tasking, playing HD games and videos.

If a mobile have high RAM and slow processor or low RAM and slow processor then the device will run very slow and it affects on its overall performances.

If you device RAM is low, then use light apps, avoid to play HD videos and muli-tasking.
Try to keep all your files, songs, games, software, apps and other data in your memory card so that the space of phone memory gets free and to some extent, the speed of your mobile could increase.

    Hope this works for you.

    Thank you..
